‘‘Film and Video will introduce students to the skills and responsibilities of producers, writers, directors, production designers,
camera operators, editors, and actors for film and video production.’’
Course Outcomes
Students will be expected to demonstrate the following general curriculum outcomes by the completion of FVP 12:
Module 1 ~ Fundamentals
Students will be expected to demonstrate a basic understanding of key aspects of film and television drama including roles and responsibilities of production team members.
Module 2 ~ Production Team Skills
Students will be expected to develop basic strategies for creating and critically reviewing films.
Module 3 ~ Film Industry and Careers
Students will be expected to examine cultural/historical influences on the local and national film industries and consider career opportunities.
Module 4 ~ Film Development and Production
Students will be expected to demonstrate their abilities, skills, and techniques in every aspect of the development of their own short films. Students will be able to justify artistic decisions made in the production of their work based on criteria other than personal preference.
In this course you will:
A jump/thumb drive is strongly recommended in this course for saving computer files.
Student Assessment and Evaluation: Student evaluation will be established through a variety of assessment opportunities that include:
40% - Assignments, Presentations, Tests, Quizzes
60% - Video Production, peer assessment, cooperative group work

In this course you will:
- learn how to use a video camera with skill, scout out locations, understand light, shot angles, and sound priorities for your film and capture various events using a video camera
- write film treatments, scripts and a pitch, and create storyboards for your film scenes
- learn about editing
- understand film terminology/techniques
